"You mean a win for Facebook and Twitter. It’s not a win for everyone, it’s a loss for WordPress in the struggle for relevance. If WordPress were the go-to platform, then people would be asking why they can’t post to Facebook using their WordPress accounts, but we don’t see that happening. This is just caving in to everything being controlled by Facebook et al, but it makes sense because the battle is already basically lost — we might as well make the most of it."
"Is it possible to switch to the classic comment form? Because espacially the data kraken Facebook I don’t like and I don’t want any linked function to it."
"I was wondering though – would you guys consider enabling a feature on WordPress… Where people can enable this or disable this in comments?
I hope no one is offended by my comment. I think it’s a great tool. I was just wondering though – for those of us who don’t want Twitter or Facebook appearing in our comment boxes, are we able to choose?"
"I’m really not comfortable with FB attached to any and everything – what is the purpose?? I preferred the previous comment box."
"Is this feature imposed on us? Can’t we turn it off? Or shall the happy few who knowTwitter and Facebook have to go self-hosted? So be it then."
"If i dont want to use FB and TW comment button on my Blog, i mean i want my blog ‘s comment like as before, how can i do that?"
"I do not like this way, I want my old one back, without facebook and twitter. How can I get the old form or take a way these I do not like?"
"As firms like Sony like to investigate who did what on social networks in Hotz where does WP.com stand on such court investigation requests – the inference being that Sony wanted to all dealings from all.
Will there be an option to turn off say facebook integration?"
"Please excuse me if I don’t share the same enthusiasm as the others on this development! There are sane people who don’t keep these over-hyped social media accounts and feel no need to do so. The right thing to do would be to offer these as extensions on the “Discussions” page to check/uncheck rather than foist it upon all and sundy in such an undemocratic manner!!"
"The functionality is good for those who want it, but telling us in advance would have been nice before launching a ‘feature’ that we can’t opt out of. Being able to opt out of it this ‘enhancement’ would be even better, as hardly any of my core users are on FB or Twitter."
"As i few other wordpress users mentioned, we too dont quite agree with this new feature. We don’t want our blog to have any relation with companies like Twitter and Facebook, we have a whole different idea on how people should write and express themselves on the internet and that’s why we use WordPress only.
Maybe everyone likes to see the Twitter and Facebook logo everywhere, but we don’t. WordPress was free of advertisements and now its not. At least WordPress should give its users the right to choose if they want this new feature or not.
This is very important and it reflects on WordPress’s mentality.
We completely understand why WordPress launched this feature and we are sure that millions of people are happy. But we simply don’t want anything to do with these 2 companies and we think that we should have the right choose."
"I hate facebook. I think its a platform take away most of peoples private data. In fact those plattform enable goverments to spy and connect sensible data ignoring the courts. I don’t want people to come to my blog and see a facebook button. This button is plain advertising for those platforms. Please give us an option in the settings to turn those buttons off."
"Now I got the zuckerdreck logo in my blog. disgusting.
please make this go away. or give an option to remove it."
"Please give us the option to REMOVE THESE COMPANIES LOGOS from our blogs. I hate facebook and twitter! One of the main reasons I use WordPress is because its ad-free!"
"Well, I may stand alone but this options stinks."
"A week has passed and we still have no answer. Will WordPress make this feature optional or its going to be like this forever?
We want our blog to be like before, ad-free!!! We want the logos of these 2 companies removed.
Please make it at least OPTIONAL! And please give us an answer on what the guys from WordPress are thinking about this."
"Maybe people who object to this feature are few but that doesn’t mean that they must cope with Internet trends. Of course this feature makes sense. What doesn’t make sense is the fact that it is imposed to everyone. Not everyone think that FB and Twitter are so innocent.
We do think that showing these logos is an ad, because it does encourage people to use this platforms, it does increase their status and it does present them to new audience . Lets not forget that we are talking about multimillion worth companies. The logo and the brand name are the subjects and the ways of advertisement for companies at the same time. The worldwide recognition of a company logo is the main purpose of advertising. If we have reached a point where a company logo appears everywhere and people who doesn’t like that cant do anything about it, then we can clearly talk about an Internet dictatorship.
Making it optional is the right thing to do. "
